The Rio Verde is a seven-day self-support whitewater trip. This is the best river in Mexico for experienced kayakers. Spend a week paddling 90 miles and more than 50 rapids. The Verde is clean water, wilderness, camping on beautiful beaches. From class III to V the verde is seven days of kayaking. Imagine the Middle Fork of the Salmon River in Idaho, then step up the whitewater a grade and remove all the crowds.
It starts as a small creek high in the Sierra of Oaxaca. By the time we reace the take-out the Verde is a full sized river. It passes through five gorges and tons of rapids. There are two portages, or two unrun rapids, though we portage several more. Most of the rapids are open boulder gardens with clean lines.
The Verde needs kayakers. Help us establish a pattern of recreational use. A dam is planned and undergoing the initial planning stages. If built, the dam will flood almost the entire whitewater stretch. Join us for an unbelievable adventure in the wildnerss of Oaxaca, Mexico.
