Rio Santa Maria

Join us for a week of kayaking on the World famous Rio Santa Maria and the surrounding rivers -- La Huasteca Potosina. Our Santa Maria adventures combines kayaking, relaxation and the rustic culture of Mexico. Our trips are designed to get the most out of your vacation time. Intermediate and advanced paddlers who want to enjoy themselves on the river will love Mexico. In a week of paddling we visit a half dozen of the most amazing rivers on earth. We paddle mostly class III and IV with a focus on providing you with a whitewater vacation.

El Portal
The rivers of La Huasteca are as unique and beautiful as any place on earth. The water is warm and a striking turquoise-blue. Besides the conventional rock-garden rapids of the Santa Maria and Puente de Dios, we paddle a handful of travertine rivers. Travertine waterfalls come in every shape and size. From straight plunges to twisting ramps, travertine kayaking is addictive. The falls are usually straight forward, with thin curtains, lacking the usual thundering reversals.

The surrounding countryside is tropical and green. Parrots fly through the trees. Iguanas and turtles bask in the sun on the river banks. The rivers are romote and uncrowded. The villages we pass through are a rustic view of the past. Off the river we spend our evenings at our base camp or in restaurants serving delicious meals typical to the region.

Most of all, our trips are fun and hassle free. We take care of all the logistics so you can concentrate on the river.
